Cooking Light Stir-Fry Cookbook Review

I bought this book because I've been trying to avoid Chinese take-out! I love Chinese food, but take-out can be so greasy. By making my own, I can control the oil and sodium in each dish.
An avid collector of Cooking Light books, I had to pick this up! More than 100 recipes; lots of fish, poultry, and beef selections; lots of variety. Got it yesterday; made the beef with spinach and ginger sauce for dinner that night. Got good reviews from my testers!
Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the book covers more than Asian stir fry. Cuisines covered include Mexican and Italian, with fajitas and other quick cooking, high-heat dishes.
Enjoy!

The Noodle Shop Cookbook Review

The Noodle Shop Cookbook

This book is a household standby in the households of at least two third-generation Asian-Americans I know. The recipes are low-fat, flavorful, and authentic, somehow without being too exotic for most American palates. They're generally easy enough for the novice cook, and detailed sidebars tell you how to slice meat, chop onions, etc. "the Asian way". Compared to ethnic cookbooks, which have me scurrying around the city shelling out way too much money on frivolities like sundried tomatoes, the ingredients needed by this book are extremely reasonably priced (as long as you live somewhere on the American coastline).

Low-Fat Ways to Stir-Fry Review

The book itself gave some good basic starting information on how to wok and what are standard ingredients for most asian foods. I enjoyed the ingredients section immensely, I knew what sauces or spices to add to get the right flavor to the food. I have been stir-frying and wokking for several years. But I was never able to get the flavor to match what I tasted in resturants. But with this I knew what sauce would bring out the flavor I wanted. It is a good book to learn some of basics. Instead of guessing what I needed to change to make a healthy stir-fry it told me how to get the results I wanted. A very good book to learn the essentials.
